Bambang Pamungkas (born in Salatiga, Central Java, on June 10, 1980) is an Indonesian footballer. Currently he plays for Persija Jakarta in Indonesia Premier League and never represent the country in the Indonesian soccer team. He usually plays as a striker.

Although not too high (171 cm), Bambang has leap high and accurate header. One of the players he admires is his partner in the national team, Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto.

While still playing in the youth team of Central Java, he had been named as the best player Haornas Cup, a championship level adolescents. Bambang was also the top scorer for the squad Indonesia in the Asian Cup U-19 Group V, with 7 goals.

Bambang first appearance together senior national team is on July 2, 1999 in a friendly match against Lithuania. Bambang, who was then 18 years old, managed to create a goal in a game that ended in a draw 2-2.
Professional Career

Bambang scored 24 goals in his first season in Liga Indonesia although it represents Persija team failed to end the round. When the season ended, Bambang joined by a third division team Dutch, EHC Norad. However, family problems and failure to adjust to the European cool weather caused several months after that, EHC Norad lend Bambang back to Liverpool before both parties terminate the contract by mutual consent.

A year later, Bambang became the top scorer with 8 goals while helping Indonesia become the second winner 2002 Tiger Cup.

Until his last appearance for Indonesia at the 2006 World Cup qualifier against Sri Lanka in September 2004, Bambang has netted 18 goals in 35 appearances. But the problem of injury and decreased performance (the last time Bambang scored a goal for Indonesia is on February 12, 2004) causes excluded from Indonesian Tiger Cup squad, 2004. When his comrades fought in the Tiger Cup, Bambang signed with Selangor FC. Until July 2005, he was the top scorer for his team with 22 goals.

2007 season he returned strengthen League Persija Jakarta in Indonesia.

On July 10, 2007, when the match between Indonesia and Bahrain, he scored, ensuring Indonesia won 2-1.
